THE PROBLEM

The low-fee private schools sector in Pakistan serves about one third of the country’s population (from kindergarten to 12th grade) and is rapidly expanding its enrolment base. While educational quality is generally perceived to be higher in private schools than in government schools, assessment results show that the quality differential is only marginal – and still very low.

In addition, private school owners are often reluctant to invest in improving the quality of education offered in their schools, especially when they have no access to loans to help them finance such improvements, or to information to help them improve their schools.

THE INNOVATION

Knowledge Platform has developed a digital learning centre equipped with their Learn Smart Classroom – an innovative, cheap, and scalable ‘blended learning’ program for low-fee schools in Pakistan, which has been shown to substantially improve learning outcomes for children between grades 1 and 12.

Knowledge Platform aims to improve learning outcomes in low-cost private schools by providing high-quality and interactive digital content, lesson plans and assessments which can be used by the teacher in the classroom, and accessed by students in a self-study mode.

By using Knowledge Platform’s Learn Smart Classroom, low-cost schools become digital hubs that ensure students attain higher quality education. Schools can improve enrolment and decrease dropout rates, while teachers are provided with lesson frameworks. Moreover, all stakeholders can access to detailed performance reports.
